How the Technology Works
The NovaChip® process, developed in the 1990s for heavily traveled roads, utilizes a specialized Spray Paver that simultaneously:
- Applies a heavy application of bonding agent (emulsion or tack coat) without vehicle tracking
- Places a thin layer (1/2 inch to 7/8 inch) of high-quality, open-graded hot mix asphalt directly onto the freshly applied emulsion
- Creates an immediate bond between the existing surface and new wearing course
- Resulting in a superior surface treatment that outperforms conventional methods.

Application Equipment
Our dedicated Roadtec SP200 Spray Paver travels throughout the Midwest, providing approved applications for DOTs, municipalities, counties, and residential subdivisions.
The system features enclosed spray bars that precisely apply emulsion at rates of 0.15 to 0.25 gallons per square yard. The hot mix is then placed directly after emulsion application—before it can break—creating an exceptional bond that resists delamination and extends pavement life.
